About us
Agroecology Lab has emerged as a response to the grand challenges that the future holds for the Mediterranean agri-food sector.
According to the UN Environmental Programme, the Mediterranean region is warming 20% faster than the global average. Impacts will exert additional pressure on already strained ecosystems, economies and societies, with agriculture being the most vulnerable.

We believe that a holistic, inclusive, fair and respectful approach is the only way to produce food and cultivate the land. It is our role to sustain balanced Mediterranean ecosystems, where the plant, animal and human aspects coexist equally in harmony.
In these challenging times, farmers as stewards of nature have an unprecedented role to adapt in the rapidly changing conditions, while protecting the ecosystems around them and strengthening their livelihoods.
Agroecology Lab helps the agrifood sector to its transition towards agroecology, through sustainable agricultural practices, methods and techniques that support organic production, carbon sequestration, climate change mitigation and adaptation.
